Job Summary

In this role the successful intern will install, calibrate and maintain instruments and controls to facilitate the operations of a power plant under supervise instruction. Troubleshoot plant controls and electrical systems and complete repairs as necessary, which includes but is not limited to digital control system & circuits, power circuits, and control devices on plant equipment under supervise instruction. The intern will also be expected to perform all work safely and with the utmost concern for the safety of self and other employees. All work is to be performed in compliance with environmental permits and regulations. Complete data sheets, test records, and other operational documentation as required for equipment and systems. Understand and utilize a variety of hand tools, power tools, measurement and test equipment in the performance of duties.

This internship will last for a duration of 90 days at one of our Power Plants in Georgia. Plant McIntosh (Savannah, GA) Plant Scherer ( Macon, GA) & Plant McManus (Bainbridge, GA).

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Job Experience

  • Minimum of two years experience in electronic, pneumatic, and hydraulic instrumentation and controls highly preferred - experience in a power plant or military base preferred.

Education

  • Military MOS technical schools related to the position or equivalent 2 year technical education.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Must be able to troubleshoot complex electronic systems.

  • Detailed knowledge of plant control and data acquisition systems desired.

  • Must have good problem solving and analytical skills necessary to determine current / future operating conditions and trends for optimizing plant performance.

  • Must have strong interpersonal skills, proven written and oral communication skills; ability to work independently and as an effective team member.

  • Knowledge of coal fired power plant operation is desired.

  • Must be able to support a 24/7 schedule, including holiday and back shift work when necessary.

  • Candidate must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office computer applications.

  • Must be able to walk on grading and have finger dexterity

Other Requirements

  • Successful completion of the Technical Aptitude Test for Instrument & Controls Technicians.
